Doris Caldwell “Babe” Lindsey

Canton formerly of Clyde – Doris Caldwell “Babe” Lindsey, 90, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Doris was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Leon and Mazie Caldwell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Andrew “Andy” Lindsey, who died in 2018; a special daughter, Kaye Lindsey, who died in 1991; three sisters, Janice Killian, Mary Seay, and Phyllis Whitman; two brothers, Raymond and Jack Caldwell; and longtime companion, Zoe.  Doris attended North Canton Baptist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Lindsey Smith (Jim) of Canton; two grandchildren, Cameron Todd Smith (Basil) of Canton and Cody Pal Smith (Samantha); and three very special great-grandchildren, Andrew Colt, Hannah Leighton, and Jace Austin, all of Maryville, Tennessee.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend George Holley officiating.  Entombment will follow at The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  The rest of the time the family will be at 1991 Beaverdam Road in Canton.

The care of Mrs. Lindsey has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
