Diane Carl

Tuckasegee – Diane Gail Carl, 70, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at her family home in Tuckasegee, North Carolina.

Diane, also known as Dee to some and as Gloru to others, was born in Oakland, Nebraska on December 16,1951 to the late Clinton Edward Carl and Edna Mae Snyder Carl.  She spent her childhood on the Gold Coast beaches of South Florida and spent her summers at her family’s cottage in the southern Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.  Diane is survived by her brother, Rodney Carl, and his wife, Penelope, of Tuckasegee, North Carolina; two sisters, Debra Mathis, and her partner, Charles Mathis of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Michelle Bernard of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her nieces-Doreen Morici, Rene Kennedy, and Angela Bernard; her nephews-Jason Sadow, Brian Wedge, and Michael Bernard; her grand nieces and nephews-The Kennedys: David, Julia, Marshal, and Lochlin.

After high school, Diane got an associate degree, found her spiritual orientation in New Orleans, and traveled to Europe and the Middle East.  She landed in Oregon because of the mountains, the sea, and mountain men.  Diane was a smiling and friendly face for the many customers who went through her cashier line at the local Safeway grocery store.  She had a winning smile and was always interested in people and their lives. Diane was ever a student of humanity. She made many good friends that she stayed in touch with through the years.  Diane lived the last 43 years in Oregon working mostly for Safeway groceries and was blessed with almost six years of retirement along the pristine shores of Astoria in the Northwest corner of Oregon where the Columbia River pours into the Pacific.

Diane was a devoted nature lover. Her favorite way of enjoying nature was to take daily 10-mile walks.  She took numerous trips to national parks and enjoyed photographing the wildlife and the scenery.  Her favorite animals were dogs, and in particular, her Doberman dog, “Patti Mae.”  Diane had a survivalist streak and was determined to be self-sufficient, come what may.  She burned firewood in the winter, carried her own wood, and tended her own fire until her arms wouldn’t let her care for her fire any longer.

Diane had a studious and curious mind.  Her interests ranged from geography, ecology, the environment, nature, food and nutrition, integral health to politics, and spirituality.  She was an avid reader, meditator, and contemplator.

Diane had a sublime spiritual nature.  Not only was she especially attuned to all the elements of nature and just loved everything about Mother Earth’s kingdoms, but she also was open hearted, generous, and empathetic with others.  Diane has been the “glowing ruby” in the hearts of her family members and friends over the years.

Diane was diagnosed with colon cancer over 12 years ago.  She went to many experts in traditional medicine.  They offered strategies of surgery, chemo, radiation, and drugs but no guarantee of remission, only the approximate maximum life expectancy of five more years.

Diane told no one in her family of her diagnosis. She quietly went on her quest to discover not only means and ways to nurture her body, but went on her quest to better understand nature, human nature, and the underlying essential reality.  She performed a daily 10-mile “walking meditation” up until the final months of her life.  Diane lived robustly most of her life.  When she did have medical challenges, she focused on them, and typically resolved her issues.

Since Diane’s diagnosis over 12 years ago, she had studied and experimented with a variety of integral diagnostic and therapeutic systems.  Diane considered that she “beat” her cancer because she lived so fully for the past 12 years, more than the original prognosis of max five years of surgery, chemo, radiation, and drugs.

Diane chose to return to her family home in North Carolina since she was 12 years old.  She was surrounded in her final days by visiting family and friends who shared their love.  She was back at home in the womb of mother nature where her family found enhanced attunement with Nature.  She found the perfect “launching pad” to catapult into the Heavens.

Diane studied and had access to many advanced integral practitioners over the past several years.  She stayed lucid up until the final 10 days of her life when she started to make the final transition in consciousness into her next adventure.  She made the transition with a peaceful final breath.  Now that Diane has passed, those who knew her best would suspect that she might be inclined to take an earthly rest and to work for the betterment of humanity from the other side.  Diane spoke of working with her Higher Angels for the betterment of All.  She was always fascinated with current events and sought to understand the rest of the story. Towards the end, Diane inclined toward the spiritual.  She matter-of-factly started the process of getting all her affairs in order and walked to and through the gate of death with courage and poise. She knew to turn inward towards the Infinite Light of Grace at the core of everyone’s Being.  Her soul has merged with the Universal Soul of All Life.  She is one with Reality—the Oneness of All Life.  Diane has become the eternal Glowing Ruby forever warming our hearts with Lovelight.
