David Lawrence Gifford

March 3, 1950 ~ April 26, 2022 (age 72)


Waynesville, David Lawrence Gifford, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at his residence.

A native of Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Charles Frederick and Teresa Ann Cutri Gifford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Gifford. David proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era and then served 14 years in the Army Reserves. He retired from the Air Force and is a member of 980 Vietnam Chapter of Vietnam Veterans. David’s strength and determination were two of his most amazing qualities. In the difficult moments of life, he always had a funny remark or story that lifted the mood of the room. David was and will forever be a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

David is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kim Gifford; two daughters, Beth Atwood, and her husband, Aaron, of Bethel and Stephanie Moberg, and her husband, Greg, of Franklin; two sisters, Terri Barrett, and her husband, Tom, of Scranton, Pennsylvania and Lisa Barrett, of Moosic, Pennsylvania; four brothers, Gregory Gifford, and his wife, Carol, of Uniondale, Pennsylvania, Charles Gifford, and his wife, Ann Marie, of Moscow, Pennsylvania, Gary Gifford, and his wife, Maria, of Blakely, Pennsylvania and Mark Gifford, of Scranton, Pennsylvania; three sisters-in-law, Karen Keefer, and husband Richard, of Easley, South Carolina, Kelly Wright, husband Jeff, of Easley, South Carolina and Michelle Gifford, of Scranton, Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Montanna Atwood, and her finance Tyler Reece and Tara Zaremski; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private burial will be held.

The care of Mr. Gifford has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
