Canton - Charles Curtis “Curt” Henderson, 86, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, Curt was the last surviving child of seven children born to the late R. T. “Dick” and Celia Shipman Henderson. His deceased siblings were his sisters, Dot Clark, Jean Morgan, Cathey Goodson and Margaret Ruth; and his brothers, R. T. “Bud” and Dennis Henderson. Curt was an active member of Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church and retired from BASF with 32 ½ years of service. Curt enjoyed camping and fishing and tinkering with anything that needed fixing. He was a patient man and exhibited “the patience of Job” throughout his life. He was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Naomi Reece Henderson; two daughters, Carol Christiana “Christy” Wood, of Canton and Charlene Elizabeth Rathbone and her husband, Dewayne, of Clyde; a son, Daryl Curtis Henderson and his wife, Traci, of Canton; six grandchildren, Bailey Henderson, Dalton Wood, Carley Rathbone, Tucker Henderson, Abigail Wood and Elijah Rathbone.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Dewayne Rathbone officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks will be observed.
