Claudette Boyer

June 6, 1948 — September 27, 2020

Waynesville

Waynesville, Claudette Fay Moxley Boyer, 72, passed away on Sunday, September 27, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

At an early age, she was a miracle of life, born a premature triplet in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on June 6, 1948 to the late Gordan Ray and Margaret Vivian Carlock Moxley.  She was preceded in death by her identical triplet sister, Carlene Gay Moxley.

Claudette graduated from South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida.  She worked as a long-distance operator at Southern Bell, in banking, and was part owner of two local businesses.  Throughout her life Claudette was passionate about sharing her Christian testimony after asking Jesus into her heart at age four.  She loved to entertain missionaries in the home who were on respite from the mission field or on assignment.  Claudette ministered to individuals and families from England, Namibia, South Africa, the Philippines, Peru, New Zealand, Dominican Republic and India where her name is inscribed into the cornerstone of a three-story orphanage in the town of Nagpur.  She was personally invited to participate in the filming of the movie "Lords of the Earth" in New Guinea by the book’s author and missionary Don Richardson.  Claudette was a wonderful listener who always had time for others and was always seeking new friendships, few people were strangers for long.  At home she treasured spending time with her family and saw great purpose for her five grandchildren.  Claudette was known for her French toast breakfasts, storytelling, heart for helping others, her competitive Scrabble game-dictionary in tow, and her powerful prayers.  She loved traveling to see her family, singing in church, making crafts, working with flowers and witnessing for Jesus.  All these things were hidden on the earth, but in Heaven now proclaimed.

Claudette is survived by her husband of 53 years, Craig Boyer; two daughters, Julie Ann (Boyer) Davis, and her husband, James, of Waynesville and Coleen Elizabeth (Boyer) Rathbone, and her husband, Henry, of Canton; five grandchildren, Ashley Davis, and her husband, Andy Bunker, of Atlanta, Georgia, Jake Davis, of Bristol, Tennessee, Nason Rathbone Boyer, and his wife, Martha (Argueta), of St. Augustine, Florida, Joseph Rathbone, and his wife, Amy (Medford), of Sanford, North Carolina, Isaac Rathbone, of Canton, North Carolina; great-granddaughter, Lillian Bunker, of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Joy Thomas, and her husband, William, of Bluffton, South Carolina; brother, Jimmie Ray Moxley, and his wife, Betty, of Fort Pierce, Florida; many nieces, nephews, and special friend, Kristen Nichols.
