Brian Hoglen

Brian Larry Hoglen, MSgt USAF, Ret.

Candler – Brian Larry Hoglen, 45, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 10, 2021 at his residence.

Brian was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a son of Nancy Wells Hoglen and the late Larry Hoglen.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bradley Hoglen, who died in 2006.  Brian was a United States Air Force veteran with 21 years of dedicated service and having served in Iraq.  He was a 1993 graduate of Enka High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1995.  Brian served as a military police officer specializing in logistics and the training and handling of military canines.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Abby Hoglen of Andover, Kansas; one brother, Brandon Hoglen (Kristen) of Candler; one niece, Katelyn Montgomery; one nephew, Rhys Hoglen; a special close friend, Gina Raicovich and her daughter, Soren, of Candler.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dianne Johnston officiating.  Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
