Bonnie Carver

Canton – Bonnie Sorrells Carver, 91, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at her residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma Harris Sorrells.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carver, who died in 1964; a son, Roger Carver, who died in 1987; an infant grandson, Joseph Gregg; two sisters, Mary Robinson and Emma Buckner; and two brothers, Roy Lee and Harris Sorrells.

She worked as a food service manager at the Haywood County Schools retiring with 30 years of service.  Bonnie was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMC Women’s Society and a member of the church choir.  For many years, Bonnie and her staff prepared meals for the Canton Lions Club at Pisgah High School and was well known throughout the county for her “Band Dinners” and meals for the Principals Association for Haywood County Schools.

She is survived by a loving daughter, Janice Parham and her husband, David, of Canton; three grandsons, Billy Carver (Mia), Nicholas Gregg (Chasity), and Adam Parham (Katey); two great-grandchildren, that brightened her day, Hudson and Boone Carver; and several nieces and nephews.  A special thanks to her loving caretakers that allowed her to stay home, Kathy, Margaret, Lucille, Deb, Donna, Regina, Treva, and Hilda

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gordon Pike and Reverend Craig Autry officiating.  Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road.  The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In keeping with COVID 19 protocol, the wearing of masks and social distancing will be observed.
