Bill Rolen

Waynesville, William "Bill" Rolen, Jr, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late William Thad and Lola Caldwell Rolen and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Rolen. Bill spent 11 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and then transferred to the Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management for 14 years. Bill had a love for nature and a particular affinity for fly fishing. He enjoyed tying his own flies and testing them throughout the beautiful streams of Western North Carolina. Bill's generous heart led to a wealth of friends and several foster children throughout the world. Bill is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jane Basilio Rolen; a daughter, Angela Koss of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; two sons, Randy Rolen and his wife, Christine, of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Steven Rolen of Maggie Valley; sister-in-law, Barbara Gail Rolen of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Christopher Riehl officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to services at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
