Betty Rogers

Waynesville

Waynesville, Betty Harris Rogers, 76,  passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mable Cogburn Harris. She was also preceded in death by four brothers;  Buddy, Joe Bob, Charles and Terry Harris.

Betty was known for her welcoming spirit.  Her door was always open to her sons’ friends.  She was affectionately known as “Mama Betty”.  She worked in retail sales for 45 years and enjoyed coaching girl’s basketball,  traveling and spending time with her family, especially her brothers. Betty was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church.

Betty is survived by two sons; Reverend Dr. Bobby Rogers and his wife, Rhonda, of Waynesville, and Steven Rogers and his wife, Lori, of Columbus, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Tyler Rogers and his wife, Holly, Emily Rogers, Lex Rogers and Carly Rogers; and one great-grandson, Seth Rogers.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Reverend Shawn Porter officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waynesville Youth Basketball, Attention: Heath Sutton, 42 Branner Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786.
