Betty Brown

Candler – Betty June “Mamaw” Singleton Brown, 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home.

June was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Charlie and Annie Mae Taylor Singleton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brown; a daughter, Terrie Lynn Willis; three sisters, Edna Trull, Mary Lou Vaincourt, and Martha Jean Watts; and three brothers, Carroll, Robert, and Charlie Singleton.  June worked as a healthcare provider for several healthcare centers including Windwood Healthcare where she worked for 15 years.

She is survived by four sons, Charles Barrett of Texas, Michael Barrett (Beverly) of Candler, Edward Barrett (Edna) of Candler, and Houston Sullivan of Asheville.  June was a “Mamaw” to everyone including several generations of her family of grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren: and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Marc Penley and Reverend Willard Pruitt officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice Patient Care Fund, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC  28731.
