Zetta Higgins

Canton - Zetta Higgins, 82, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Haywood Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Pearl Hylemon-Higgins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Higgins; the father of her children, Vanis Harding; her beloved Bill Kuykendall; a great-grandson Kameron Ledford; and longtime friend, Gene Anders.

Our Mom was an independent, hard working woman who spoke her mind, usually with a sense of humor. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing both for her family and in various sewing factories over the past 50 years. She also worked for Canton Health care for several years. Zetta was a talented pianist, playing the piano at her church in her younger years. Mom loved her family very much, as well as her sweet cat, Lana. She will be deeply missed by all of us, but always in our hearts.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Robinson (Jerry), Regina Medford (Stuart) and Billie Greene (Bobby); 9 grandchildren, Jessica Turner (Brandon), Trena Ellison, Joey Robinson, Lynn Brown, Jeff Parton (Heather), Anthony Parton (Marydith), Jessica Phillips, Amy Capel and Chris Green; 15 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Blake, Nicholas, Josh, Addison, Bronson, Ava, Jacob, Dustin, Chase, Deanna, Mollee, Andrew, Christopher and Jordon; one great-great grandchild, Scarlett Rose and longtime best friend, Georgia, who was like a sister to her.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at West Burnsville Church of God at 557 Westside Road in Burnsville with the Reverend Randall Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the Keith Higgins Family Cemetery on Langford Branch Road in Burnsville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Wells Funeral Home in Canton and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Family and friends are also welcome to come by "The Old House" on Langford Branch, where mom grew up, after burial.
