Yvonne Cogdill

Yvonne Marie Cogdill, age 71, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Memorial Mission Campus.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Mildred Arrington Cogdill.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by  her sister, Dianne Cogdill.  Yvonne obtained her nursing degree from Asheville School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse for Harris Regional Hospital, Haywood Regional Medical Center and Vanderbilt Medical Center.  She retired in 2013 from Harris Regional Hospital after 42 years of faithful service.  She was a member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church and was involved with the ladies’ groups at church.  Yvonne enjoyed traveling with her friends and especially to Destin Beach, spending time with family and cooking.

Yvonne is survived by her brother, Mac Cogdill, of Balsam; three nieces, Ashley Rivers, Kristin Avertt and Alexis Deaton (Trevon Youngblood); and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Cullen and speaker, Bobby Cogdill officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive from 12:00 noon until service time at the church.

The care of Miss Cogdill has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
