Wilma Ray

Wilma Ray, 89, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Pompano Beach, Florida.

A native of Waynesville, she was the daughter of the late John Paul and Elsie Sanford.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe S. Ray and sister, Hilda Russell.

Wilma loved entertaining and cooking meals for family and friends, especially around the holidays.  She was a wonderful cook who made chicken dumplings, fried chicken, pound cakes, chocolate pies and many other treats.  Everyone was always invited to sit at the table and share a meal.  She enjoyed making her yard gorgeous and growing a lovely garden in the Summer.  More than anything, she loved her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Silverstein (Adam) of Coral Springs, Florida; a sister, Brenda Davis of Clyde, NC; and two grandchildren:  Abby and Zack Silverstein.
