Wilma Neace Smith

Wilma Neace Smith, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the CarePartners Hospice Solace Center. Born on April 11, 1940, in Cocke, TN, Wilma lived a life rich in love and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

For over twenty years, Wilma devoted herself to a career in banking, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and warm smile. Yet, it was her passion for painting nature scenery that truly spoke to her heart and soul. Through her artistic expressions, she brought a little piece of the beauty of the outdoors into the homes of those around her, delighting friends and family alike with her vibrant and serene landscapes.

Wilma found immense joy in community and fellowship, especially through her cherished participation in the ladies’ group at Bryson City United Methodist Church. These gatherings were more than social events; they were a testament to her loving spirit and her commitment to nurturing relationships with those around her.

Above all, Wilma took pride in her role as "nana" to her grandboys, Kyle and Seth Smith. Her eyes would light up with joy whenever she spoke about them, recounting their achievements and adventures as if they were the very fabric of her own heart. Being a grandmother was not just an accomplishment; it was her proudest moment, and she relished every opportunity to create lasting memories with her family.

Wilma is survived by her devoted son, Ronald Smith Jr., and her loving daughter, Karen Smith. Their lives are forever enriched by the love and wisdom she bestowed upon them. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kyle and Seth, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness, creativity, and warmth.

She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Ideane Williams, and her brothers, Wayne and Aubrey Neace. Their memories will be honored and remembered by those who knew and loved Wilma.

As we celebrate the remarkable life of Wilma Neace Smith, we remember a woman who brought beauty into the world through her art, warmth into our hearts, and love into our lives. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who were touched by her grace, and her memory will forever be woven into the fabric of her family's story.

Family will have a private Ceremony to cherish Wilmas Legacy at a later date.

The care of Ms. Smith has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville
