Canton – William Arthur “Bill” Sawyer, 75, formerly a resident of Fletcher passed away on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center in Woodfin.
He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late James and Elsie Sawyer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katie Sawyer Williams and a brother, James Harvey Sawyer. Bill retired from Eaton Electrical Corporation in 2005 and was a United States Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam. In his retirement years, Bill enjoyed playing golf with his friends as well as fishing and hunting.
He is survived by a daughter, Terri Lynn Fowler and husband, Scott, of Holly Springs; two grandchildren, Seth and Delani Fowler; a sister, Barbara Rhinehart of Canton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with military honors. Officiating will be the Reverend Harry Worley. The family will receive friends following the service.
