William Horton

"Loving Husband, Step-Father and Step-Grandfather"

Maggie Valley, William H. Horton, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Lancaster, South Carolina, he was the son of the late L.C. and Pearl Horton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lightfoot Horton; a brother, Charles Wayne Horton; and a step-son, William Carl Smith. William was a member of the Hendersonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church and attended Waynesville Seventh-Day Adventist Church. William proudly served his country and is a Vietnam Veteran.

William is survived by his sister, Joy Ann Hudson, Step-son, Douglas A. Smith, and his wife, Barbara; four grandchildren, Michael Stephen, Karen Elizabeth, Dawn Elisabeth and David Paul Smith; one great-granddaughter, Kacey Taylor Eichhorn; and one daughter-in-law, Dianne Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Myers and Pastor Tim Sheridan. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
