William Osborne

Clyde – William Fulton “Bill” Osborne, 92, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Henry and Maude Nelson Osborne.  He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Mae Nelson Osborne who died in 1979, his second wife, Lita Grey Pressley Osborne, who died in 2013; a daughter, Lura Caldwell, who died in 2010; and a brother, Blount Osborne, who died in 2017.  Bill retired from Champion International with 30 years of service and was a member of West Canton Baptist Church.  He was a charter member of Clyde Lions Club for 70 years having served in numerous offices at both the local club and the district level.  Bill was instrumental in the development of the Marjorie McCune Center and had a cottage named in his honor in 2017.  He was a United States Army veteran.

He is survived by a daughter, Lesa Harmon and her husband, Chris, of Naples, Florida; a son, Robert “Bobby” Osborne and his wife, Debbie, of Statesville; two sisters, Ernestine Parton of Waynesville and Lou Anne Cogburn of Canton; a brother, Massie Osborne and his wife, Joan; a sister-in-law, Maxine Osborne of Clyde; six grandchildren, David Osborne, Timothy Caldwell, Emily Osborne, Bailey Osborne, Lucas Harmon, and Logan Harmon; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019 at West Canton Baptist Church with the Reverend Jonathan Blaylock, Max Bumgardner, and Gene Sizemore officiating and military honors conducted by the United States Army.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Clyde Lions Club and district Lions.
