William "Bill" Joe Rhodarmer

Bill Rhodarmer, a beloved individual who touched the lives of many people, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. He was born March 10, 1931, in Haywood County, North Carolina.

Bill led a fulfilling life defined by dedicated service to both his country and his community. He proudly served in the United States Army as part of the 82nd Airborne Division, where he was commissioned as a First Lieutenant. His commitment to duty and honor during his military service set the foundation for a lifetime of integrity and hard work. Prior to his commitment to the United States Army, Bill graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University (His Beloved Tigers!!!) in 1953. Bill was also a product of Canton High School, a graduate of 1949.

In his professional career, Bill was very successful in Textile Manufacturing, from Plant Management to Vice-President of organizations that he came in contact with. His work ethic and leadership were highly respected by colleagues and friends alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bill was known for his warm heart and compassionate nature. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. His kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Baxter and Inez Phillips Rhodarmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willie Rhodarmer, who passed away in September 2021, and son, Joe Rhodarmer; and siblings CV Rhodarmer, Edna Broyles, and Artie Smathers.

He is survived by daughter, Beth Mayer (Kurt) of Columbia, SC; son, Frank Rhodarmer (Kim) of Mint Hill, NC; daughter-in-law, Michele Rhodarmer of Columbia, SC; grandchildren: Bryan Mayer (Lynn) of Pasadena, CA; Michael Mayer (Allison) of Charlotte, NC; Lauren Benton (Joe) of Cayce, SC; Ashley Popa (Chris) of Richmond, TX; Brittany Ruechel (Justin) of Davidson, NC; great-grandchildren: Brayden and Kaya Mayer, Ainsley and Piper Mayer, James Benton, Owen Popa, Anna, Ethan and Cade Ruechel.

A graveside service will be announced at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plains Methodist Church, 2029 Newfound Rd, Canton, NC 28716, or Servant’s Heart of Mint Hill, 9229 Lawyers Road, Suite N, Mint Hill, NC 28227.

The care of Mr. William Rhodarmer has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton, NC.
