William "Bill" Hewin Morris

Waynesville, William “Bill” Hewin Morris, 73, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Silver Bluff Nursing and Rehabilitation. 

 

A native of Georgia, Bill was a lifelong resident of Haywood County.  He was the son of the late Hewin and Sarah Teasley Morris. Bill graduated in 1968 from Tuscola High School.  He was part of one of the first graduating classes at Duke University’s Physician Assistant Program in 1973 and graduated in 1974 from the UNC School of Pharmacy.  He was the owner of Smith’s Drugs from 1977 until 2000.  Bill enjoyed reading, listening to music, golf, and had a passion for helping others and spending time with his family.

 

Bill is survived by his wife of 53 years, Neese Morris; daughter, Julie Morris; two sons, Ryan and Daniel “DBO” Morris (Andrea); brother, Richard Morris (Sheila); two grandchildren, Emma and Campbell; and two great-grandchildren, Grey and Cora.    

 

A gathering celebrating Bill’s life will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, May 12, 2023 at Wells Events & Reception Center. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reach of Haywood County, P. O. Box 206, Waynesville, NC  28786.
