Waynesville, William "Bill" Clyde Branson, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Harmony at Reynolds Mountain. 

 

He was a son of the late Clyde Porter Branson and Marjorie Stockton Branson, of Canton, North Carolina.  Bill graduated from Canton High School in 1951 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve his country during the Korean War.  After serving four years in Korea, he returned to WNC and earned a BS degree in business from Western Carolina.  Bill was employed by Dayco/Day International and held several senior management positions and retired in 1995 after a career of 38 years.

 

Bill loved the outdoors.  His life was filled with hunting, fishing, camping and travel.  Some of his favorite trips were to Alaska, with his wife, June, sons, and grandsons for fishing.  Bill also loved any type of outside work.  He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather.

 

He is survived by his wife, of 66 years, June Bryson Branson; sons, William (Shayne), of Asheville and Joseph (Deah), of Canton; daughter, Terri Reid (John), of Shelby; and grandsons, Branson Reid, of Shelby and Jackson Reid (April), of Charlotte.

 

The family would like to give warmest thanks to Harmony at Reynolds Mountain and Medi Home Hospice for Bill’s care.

 

A graveside service will be held for family and close friends at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waynesville.

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209.

 

The care of Mr. Branson has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
