William "Bud" Ammons

William “Bud” Ammons, 87, of Waynesville, NC went to be with Jesus on November 22,2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. Bud was born in Jackson County on April 25, 1937, to the late, Lonnie and Viola Snyder Ammons. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son Dale Ammons, sister Ann Harris and brother-in-law Charlie Harris.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 67 years, Frankie Hensley Ammons, a daughter Teresa Johnson (Ken) and a granddaughter, Heather Mayes (Matthew). Along with several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. 

Bud was a 1957 graduate of Webster High School, A United States Army Veteran and a graduate of NRI Engine Repair School of small engine repair with highest honors.

He was a loving husband, daddy, papaw, and friend. He enjoyed camping and skiing with his wife, children, granddaughter and friends.

Bud enjoyed the outdoors. He loved making things with his hands, building RC Airplanes, and all kinds of woodworking. He loved his music, playing hymns on his piano & guitar, and with his group of musician friends. 

He worked on lawn mowers and anything with a small engine. He worked at Dayco for 28 years. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Constantian, M.Div. officiating. Interment will follow at Garrett Hillcrest. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
