Wayne Pressley

Canton – Robert Wayne Pressley, 81, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his residence.

Wayne was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Taft and Cora Bell Henson Pressley.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Biddix.  Wayne worked at B.A.S.F and served as a missionary and pastor.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris Mashburn Pressley; three daughters, Rebekah Medford (Daniel) of Canton, Hope Denney of Mills River, and Joy Sharp of Canton; one son, Philip Pressley (Debra) of Clyde; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Dewayne, Daniel M., Tabatha, Daniel R., Shania, and Eliya; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2022 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank White, Reverend Terry Green, and Mr. Jason Trantham officiating.  Burial will follow at Center Pigeon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
