Wayne Warren Patton, born on February 19, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, in Maggie Valley, North Carolina. His remarkable life of dedication, both professionally and personally, left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. He was predeceased by his parents, Wayne and Ellen Patton, his cherished wife of 60 years, Jeanene, and his daughter Catherine Wyandt and her husband Mike.

Wayne's academic pursuits began at Tecumseh High School, where he graduated as part of the Class of 1953, earning participation in all four varsity sports. After high school, he furthered his education by graduating from Stautzenberger Business College, laying a solid foundation for his future endeavors.

For 38 years, Wayne devoted himself to the field of education as a college admissions representative and director. He played a pivotal role as owner and part owner of several business colleges for SBC and Patricia Stevens Career Colleges, culminating his career as Vice President of what is now known as the University of Northwestern, Ohio.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry, a testament to his character and service to others. He was also a devout member of St. Margarets Catholic Church in Maggie Valley, and a regular attendee along with his companion at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

An avid golf enthusiast, Wayne enjoyed playing the sport throughout his life. As a member of the Maggie Valley Country Club and the Men's Golf Association, he cherished the time spent on the greens, surrounded by friends and fellow golfers.

Wayne had a deep appreciation for his fur babies, who brought joy and companionship to his life.

He shared his life with Marilyn M. Reetz, his companion of 10 years, who stood by him through many of life's ups and downs. Wayne is survived by his beloved daughters, Deborah Obenauf (Gary), Cyndy Lou Baker (Glenn), and Joanna Elston (Ron), his sister Pat Roadarmel. He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Wayne Warren Patton will be remembered as a dedicated family man, a servant leader in education, and a beloved member of his community. His spirit and contributions to those around him will live on through the memories he created and the lives he touched.

Services are to be held at a later date in Toledo, Ohio. No local services are planned at this time.
