Wanda Payne

Wanda Lee Johnson Payne, 88, of Canton passed away on Tuesday, June 21. 2022 at Mission Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late John Lester and Lora Jones Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard William “Bill” Payne in 2016; a son, Howard Edward “Eddie” Payne in 2005 and a brother, Carol Johnson.

Wanda was a member of Plains United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Chambers of Canton; daughter-in-law, Melissa Welch Payne of Canton; brother, Billy Johnson and his wife, Anne of Canton; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made one’s own favorite charity.

The care of Mrs. Payne has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes of Canton.
