Wanda Kilby

Candler – Wanda Sue Roberts Kilby, 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Pisgah Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Wanda was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late John and Gladys Medford Roberts.  “Her children rise up and call her blessed.  Her husband also praises her.”  She was filled with joy for her family, always looking forward to their gatherings.  Wanda was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for the last 42 years and was instrumental in the children’s & youth ministry.  Her love for games and sports paled in comparison to her love for her Lord and Savior.  Wanda will be missed but she is now blessed and rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Roy Kilby; three sons, Roy “Lee” Kilby, Jr. (Anne) of Waynesville, Dr. John “Pat” Kilby (Angela) of Cary, and Ryan Kilby (Jessica) of Ada, Oklahoma; her sister, Florence Glisson of Mississippi; a brother, David Roberts (Barbara) of Black Mountain; nine grandchildren, Cameron Kilby (Jessica), Danielle Thomas (Reno), Myles Kilby, Cory Kilby (Kiana),  Olivia Kilby, Britton Kilby, Paxton Kilby (Sadie), Spencer Kilby (Rachel), and Chandler Kilby; and four great-grandchildren, Karson, Jamison, Kobe, and Roan Kilby.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Kilby, Dr. John “Pat” Kilby and Ryan Kilby officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Bethel Baptist Church.  A private family burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Children’s Ministry, 5868 Pigeon Road, Canton, NC  28716.
