Walter Rice

Canton – Walter Hoff Rice, III passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Mission Hospital – Memorial Campus.

A native of Mountainside, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Walter Hoff Rice, Jr. and Myrtle Virginia Unruh Rice.  Walter was vice president of Liqui – Dri Foods for 17 years.  His interests were fishing, hunting, raising children and dogs and volunteering for St. Andrew’s On The Hill Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Lee Rice; three daughters, Kimberly Kerr Rice (Ron Argo), Wendy Lee Curley (Richard), and Sarah Patricia Rice; five sons, Walter Hoff Rice, IV (Susan), Kevin Matthew Rice, Shaun Coulter-Browning (Randy), Christopher George Rice and James Story Rice (Tara); seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The memorial service scheduled for Thursday, December 30, 2021 has been canceled and will be announced at a later date

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrews On The Hill Episcopal Church, Hope for the Future, P.O. Box 947, Canton, NC   28716 or to Camp Henry – Lake Logan Episcopal Conference Center, 25 Wormy Chestnut Lane, Canton, NC   28716.
