Walter Lance

Waynesville-Walter Louis "Bear" Lance, age 72, of Suyeta Parks Drive, died Monday, May 31, 2004 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John and Ruth London Lance. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ted Lance, and two sisters, Mary Shelton and Dorothy Michael. He was employed by Royster-Clark and loved gardening, landscaping, and animals. He was a former member of the Moose and Elks Lodge and had served in the National Guard. He is survived by his special friend, Thomasine Nelson; five sisters, Marie Parks, Freida Chandler, Joyce Jaynes, and Janet Lance, all of Waynesville and Leota Carr of Asheville; five brothers, J.L., Harvey, and Ronnie Lance all of Waynesville, Kenneth Lance of Newland, NC and Mike Lance of Duncan, SC. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
