Waitsel Hipps

Waitsel Mackey Hipps, age 94, of Waitsel Way, died Friday, August 19, 2005 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Edward Lee and Lena Swanger Mackey. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Carl Mackey, two sisters, Cornelia Clubb and Ethel Roberson and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Hipps was a homemaker and a member of West Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, John H. "Bill" Hipps; two daughters, Iris Ensley, and her husband, Bruce of Canton and Sandra Mathews, and her husband, Harold of Clyde; a sister, Cherria Jenkins of Clyde; two grandsons; three step- granddaughters; and six great grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Bon-A- Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Bill Henson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.
