Vera Davis

Waynesville-Vera Ellen Burnette Davis, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Brian Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Newton and Helen Crawford Burnette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Davis, who died in 1999; a daughter, Carol Simmons; seven sisters, Wilma, Erma, Ethel, Frances, Lillian, Mary June, and Ann; and a brother, Fred Burnette, Jr. Vera was a very joyful person and had a great sense of humor. It was her wish that people remember her for her humor and zest for life. She is survived by one son, Jim Carter, of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Betty Revis, of Asheville; two brothers, Howard Burnette and Bill Burnette, of Arden; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a special neighbor and friend, Carolyn Gosnell; and also a special friend and caregiver, Kathy Lanning and her daughter, Heather Owen. Private services will be held at a later date.
