Velma Buchanan Frady

Velma Buchanan Frady, 82, of Brevard passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Mitchell County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Bayord and Hannah Melton Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Always devoted to her family, Velma spent her life as a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter, Christy Hudgins and her husband, Bryan of Asheville; one sister, June Helton of Charlotte, NC and a grandson, Tanner Hudgins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 146 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801.
