Vaughn Williams

Canton-Vaughn Lewis Williams, age 82, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a son of the late James B. and Ruth L. Gaddy Williams and was the husband of the late Agnes Kuykendall Williams who died in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a sister Carrie B. Thomason. He retired from American Enka with 43 years of service. He was a member of Burnette Cove Baptist Church and served as a deacon. He was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II having served in Asia. He is survived by one daughter Norma June Williams Gibson of Canton, two sons James L. Williams of Canton and Timothy L. Williams of Sylva, 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of the son, James and Debbie Williams, 616 Burnette Cove Road, Canton, NC 28716.
