Vaudie Davis

1932-2015 Canton- Vaudie Mae Davis, age 82, passed away on Friday, February 06, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, Vaudie lived most of her life in Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Absalom Jarrett and Ollie Wykle Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, A. J. and Hoyt Davis; and five sisters, Lois Tipton, Amy Dills, Stella Palmer, Jody and Annie Davis. Vaudie was an avid reader of western novels and had a love for wildlife. She enjoyed watching wild turkeys, deer, and horses around her residence. She is survived by two sisters, Gladys Hooper and her husband, Wesley, of Franklin and Ocie Stinnet of Horse Shoe; two brothers, Dallas Davis and his wife, Emma Dean, of Canton, and Hanley Davis and his wife, Linda, of Knoxville, Tennessee; and she was blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Davis Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Silver Bluff Nursing Home Activity Department Fund, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC 28716 or to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.
