Troy Stamey

Waynesville – Troy Lee Stamey, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Troy was a native of Buncombe County and a son of the late Sam and Nettie Miller Stamey.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Eric Stamey, who died in 1965.  Troy retired from the United States Postal Service with over 30 years of service and was a United States Air Force veteran.  He had a love for car collecting and participating in car shows and drive-ins where he received numerous trophies and recognition’s over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Smathers Stamey; one daughter, Tina Reyes and Matias of Asheville; a son, Jerry Stamey of Asheville; one grandson, Dakota Stamey; and one great-grandson, Weston Nef.

Considering the current public health situation, a private graveside service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 2312 Smokey Park Highway, Candler, NC  28715.
