Canton – Willie Thomas “Tom” Mann, 82, of the Beaverdam Community, passed away on Wednesday, September 04, 2019 at Charles George VA Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late W.Z. and Inis Worley Mann. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Mann; three sisters, Grace Cairnes, Wanda Mann and Gladys Hipps; and one step-daughter, Lynn Stark. Tom was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Dayco Corporation with 27 years of service and was a member of Beaverdam United Methodist Church. In Tom’s retirement years, he was the owner and operator of his own business, Mann Excavating.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wanda Mashburn Mann; one son, Jeff Mann and wife, Brenda, of Canton; three grandchildren, Jacob Mann and wife, Rachel, Vincent and Charmayne Mann; three great-grandchildren, Orion and Atlas Mann and Laila Hicks; also, Jeff’s mother, Diane Justice of Canton.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Beaverdam United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gordon A. Pike officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Community Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
