Thomas Albert Weaver, II

Thomas Albert Weaver, II, 79, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, in Skilled Care at Mirador Retirement Community, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Tom was born on July 14, 1942. He graduated from Rabun Gap Nacoochee High School, held degrees from Belhaven University, Columbia Theological Seminary, and Florida State University. He served in both professional and volunteer ministries, also teaching in Classical Christian Education. He worked as a consultant for adoptions with Bethany Christian Services and as a Certified Medical Social Worker in Child Protective and Geriatric Care. He was an avid reader of history, current events, being committed particularly to Bible Study. In Corpus Christi, he served as an Elder with Southside Community Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of America. He attended and served as Associate Teaching Director of Community Bible Study, of Corpus Christi for 10 years. He enjoyed writing, baking bread, refinishing furniture, refurbishing houses, and doing his own yard work! He was a jogger and a serious walker. He, along with his wife, most enjoyed their two children and families.

Tom’s parents and sister, of Pensacola Florida preceded him in death. Emily Hyatt Weaver of Corpus Christi, originally of Waynesville, survives her husband of almost 57 years, along with their son and daughter. Thomas A. Weaver, III, resides in San Antonio Texas, with his wife Selina, their three daughters, Carolina Suzzette, Emma Lee, and Mary Grace. Their daughter is Mary Ella Weaver Ross, who with her husband, Shane and their daughter, Madison Emily are from Park Hill, Oklahoma. Three nephews, James and Michael Payne of Pensacola, Florida and Tommy Payne, of Asheville, NC and their families survive their uncle.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 10:15 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Livestream of the service will be available through his obituary at www.wellsfuneralhome.com  A gathering of family and friends celebrating Tom’s life will be held after the service at Wells Events & Reception Center.
