Theodore Lappas, Jr.

Clyde, NC: Mr. Theodore "Ted" Lappas, Jr., age 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30, 2018. Ted was born November 3, 1936 in Union City, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Theodore Lappas Sr. and Walburga Kammerbauer Lappas. In addition to his parents, his sister, Alexandra P. Lappas, preceded him in death. Ted grew up in New Jersey, graduating from Union Hill High School, Class of 1954, he then earned his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, Class of 1958, and his Doctorate of Law from Columbia University, Class of 1961. After receiving his law license and serving in the United States Army, he launched his legal career at Milton, Keaves and DeBona Law firm in New Jersey. A lifelong Commercial Real Estate Attorney for Lappas Enterprises, LLC, he was committed to unwavering ethics and standards. His legal acumen and unwaveringly strong morals defined him as an outstanding professional and person. He served his community with this same enthusiasm and dedication sharing his time, humor and expertise. A warm hearted, loving husband of fifty-three years, caring father, father-in-law, grandfather and family friend to many, he was benevolent and philanthropic. Always ready to support others in need and the community he loved, he participated in many organizations. His will be greatly missed by all. Ted is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Yvonne J. van der Meer Lappas; his daughter, Michelle-Adrienne Lappas Kotara and son-in-law, Kenneth Kotara and his grandson, Julian Alexander Lappas Kotara of Asheville, NC. A small, private family service will be held.
