Thelma Hensley

Thelma Lena Lanning Hensley, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Hannah Phillips Lanning.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda James; brother Tom Lanning; and grandson Rico Martinez.  Thelma enjoyed raising her sisters, brothers, children and grandchildren.

Thelma is survived by two daughters, Linda Cervantes and Glenda Hensley; three sons, Mike, Danny and Gary Hensley; sister, Barbara Golden; three brothers, Lester, George and Ned Lanning; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A time of sharing will be from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

The care of Mrs. Hensley has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
