Terry Joe Painter, 69, of Waynesville, North Carolina, passed away at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He was born in Swain County, NC, on August 3, 1957, to loving parents Geroge and Merle (Stamey) Painter.

Growing up, Terry attended Tuscola High School from which he graduated before moving on to North Carolina State University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

Left to mourn Terry’s passing is his wife, Connie Painter; cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Geroge and Merle Painter.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.

The care of Mr. Painter has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
