Ted Stamey

Canton - Ted Russell Stamey, age76, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Asheville. A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Fred and Alma Wilson Stamey. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Ramirez, who died in 2003. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of the VFW Post 5202. Ted retired with 37 years of service from Champion International. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Plemmons Stamey; a sister, Martha Gant of Canton; three brothers, JoBob Stamey of Canton, Carl Stamey of Canton and "Pal" Stamey; and two grandchildren, Erika and Raymond Ramirez. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at The Horizon at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
