Charles “Ted” Hinson, 88, of Candler, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2024. He is now united with his “sweet baby” who passed away in January, 2024.
Ted was born, October 14, 1935, in Asheville, NC. He was the son of the late, Walker Hinson and Lois Byrd Hinson. He married the love of his life, Martha Pressley Hinson, on June 18, 1954. They were married for 69 years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly, as they did him. Ted served in the United States Air Force.
Ted worked at American Enka Plant for many years. He then became a milk tester for DHIA, out of NC State University. After that, he went into business with his sons, Mark and Mickey, and that’s when Hinson Lawn Care was founded. He had many customers that were also his friends.
Ted was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, in Candler, where he was a Trustee for several years. He enjoyed participating in the Men’s Breakfast every month. He loved the Atlanta Braves, the North Carolina Tar Heels, and most of all, mowing his yard on this riding lawn mower.
Left to cherish Ted’s memory are his children, Ronnie Hinson (Mary) of Davidson, Lori Turner (Anthony) of Asheville, Mark Hinson (René) of Candler, and Mickey Hinson (Beckie) of Candler; grandchildren, Jordan Hinson, Aaron Roberts (Rebecca), Eric Hinson (Catilin), Brandon Hinson, Whytni Turner (Adam), Ashley Klutz (Nathan), Dylan Roberts (Julia), Malorie Mills, and Faith Mills; ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A very special “Thank You” to Darla Allen, his caregiver.
Preceding Ted in death are his wife, Martha Pressley Hinson; his brothers, JC, Jennings, Arvil, and Bill; and his sister, Ruth Fore.
