Susan Shuler

Clyde / Hazelwood, Susan Elaine Davis Shuler, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at CarePartners Solace Center.

A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Allan and Bobbie Smith Davis.

Susan was a graduate of Tuscola High School Class of 1981 and Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and worked at Pepsi Corporation, Anton Chevrolet, and Haywood Oil.  A loving mother and people person, she enjoyed being involved and making a difference.  She liked coaching her daughters in softball, adored her family and friends, and relished her role as a caregiver.  She was a skilled photographer and her favorite subject was capturing the power and beauty of the beach and ocean.  Later in life, Susan became a chaplain and drew her strength from the Lord every day.  Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Shuler; dear daughters, Jenna and Elaina Shuler; sister, Janet Smith, and her husband, Richard Smith; and brother, Greg Davis, and his wife, Cathy Noland; many special nieces and nephews; and her beloved grand-animals, Calista, Mina, and Catalina.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating.  Burial will follow at Fincher’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Orchard Church Building Fund, 202 W Brook Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Susan has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
