Susan Ann Lozaw, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on November 13, 1944, in Cumberland County, NC, Ann was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her.
For five years, Ann dedicated her skills to a fulfilling career as a press operator for Fasco, where she worked for 19 and a half years and then going on to work for Maidenform dedicating her skills to the shipping department. Her colleagues admired her work ethic and friendly spirit, traits she carried into all aspects of her life.
She was a woman of many passions and found herself deeply connected to the mountains she adored. Weekend drives through the scenic roads with a camera in hand became a cherished tradition, often with family by her side. She instilled her love for music to her children by forming the band “Poor Boys,” with her two sons. This joyful pursuit brought laughter and rhythm to their lives, showcasing the special bond they shared.
Ann's green thumb was evident in her beautifully tended yard, where she enjoyed many projects, from building fences to painting figurines, each adding to her unique touch. Her garden, especially filled with her favorite gladiolas, blossomed under her care and mirrored the beauty of her spirit. Her grandchildren adored her, and she was always ready with a special treat or snack whenever they visited, fostering memories steeped in love.
Christmas was a particularly special time for Ann; it was the holiday she adored most. Each year, her home sparkled with the warmth of decoration, as she cherished the spirit of the season and often kept her decorations up just a little longer for everyone to enjoy.
She is survived by her loving children, Kenneth Thorne (Helen) of Canton, Edward Thorne (Emily) of Parkton, Sherry Fritz (Terry) of Canton, and Darlene Brady (Sam) of Waynesville. Her legacy continues with 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who will forever treasure the moments spent with her. Ann also leaves behind her brother, David White of Fayetteville and sister, Dale Bentley (Jerry) of Wilmington, who will hold her memory close to their hearts.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Luther and Opal Bell White; her cherished husband, George Lozaw; her sister, Judy Taylor; and sister-in-law, Julia White.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville, NC, starting at 11:00 AM. Into the embrace of the mountains she loved, may her spirit find peace, while those who knew and loved her continue to carry her legacy forward.
The care of Mrs. Lozaw has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
