Sue Gill

August 10, 1937 — September 20, 2018

Waynesville, Sue Catherine Minninger Gill, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Lowell, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Vera Smith Minninger.

Suzy and Tommy met in Chicago while she was a stewardess flying for United and Tommy was a pilot for American Airlines. It was love at first sight, three weeks later they were married. They later moved to Boca Raton Florida where they raised their four children before retiring to the Mountains of N.C. where she lived out her final days enriching the lives of all she touched.

Suzy was extremely devoted to the Lord and her Family. She was a very caring and giving person, and never met a stranger. It is truly earth's loss, but heavens gain. She was a prayer warrior and felt it her duty to stand in the gap through prayer for all of the family, and that she did faithfully every day!

John 11:25 "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies."

Suzy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Newell Thomas "Tom" Gill; a daughter, Katy Gill, of Florida; three sons, Richard Gill (Kim) of Jefferson, North Carolina, Mike Gill (Cherie) of Milton, Georgia, and Dr. Dan Gill (Julie) of Hickory; Sixteen Grandchildren, Kristie, Joy, Zachery, Megan, Michael Jessica, Jonathan, Joshua, Zachary, Rebecca, Jesse, Sarah, Elizabeth, Rachel, Daniel and Hannah; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexander, Grady, Crosley, Lizzy, James, Liam, Sadie, and Oscar.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Pruett and Pastor Karen Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the loving staff of Maggie Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their care of Sue.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
