Steven J Amodio

Steven J. Amodio (aka Flash & GP), age 82 of Waynesville, NC, passed away Monday, June 24th, 2024. Born in Utica, NY, he was the son of the late John & Gertrude Amodio (nee Bryden). 

He moved with his parents to Clearwater, FL and graduated from Clearwater High School and Florida State University.

Steve worked for the US Federal Government for 41 years, first with the IRS, then with the Department of Labor. He was well known to be a staunch advocate for the working people. He spent many years specializing in farm labor throughout Florida. Steve received many accolades for his work, including commendations from then Presidents Clinton and Obama.

Outside of work, Steve was an avid DIY’er. He remodeled and rebuilt many of his homes, and finally envisioned, designed and built his home in Waynesville. The home stands as a testament to his imagination and abilities. The home is known to family and friends as “the house of windows”. In addition to his own homes, Steve was always ready to help out friends and family with their projects.

Steve is survived by his son John Amodio and his daughter in-law Jayne Amodio (nee Darker) of North Port, FL; his stepdaughter Kristin Bergollo and her husband Edgar of Odessa, FL; his grandchildren Raquel, Kristine and Dominick Amodio; step grandchildren Rachyl Valentine, Edgar, Jackson and Olivia Bergollo; great grandchildren Elara Westenberg and Riley Boose. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Sandra Kibler-Amodio, and his son Eric Amodio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth House or Four Seasons Hospice at the Four Seasons Foundation, 211 N. Main St., Hendersonville, NC, 28792.

 The care of Mr. Amodio has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
