Steve Burke

Canton - E. Steve Burke, 64, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 19, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Earl and Carnelia Mackey Burke. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Burke. Steve was a United States Army veteran and retired in 2014 as custodian for North Canton Elementary School with 30 years of service. He loved to go fishing, camping and spending time with his grandkids. Steve loved his sweet wife and family dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Burke; three daughters, Brandy Herndon (Ray), Chasity Hall (Stephen) and Tiffany Woody (Aaron); four sons, Scott Burke (Jennifer), Eric Jones (Tracy), Justin Saunders (Shasta) and Chris York (Melissa); one sister, Vickki Burke (Pat); a nephew, Thomas Laws (Tracy); special friend Tonda Ventura; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Chip Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
