Stanley Kuehn

Waynesville, Stanley George Kuehn, age 98, died on Monday, November 9, 2009, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville, following a brief illness. Born November 26, 1910 in Cleveland, Ohio, Stan lived in Cleveland before moving to Asheville in 1955, to Hendersonville in 1975, and settling in Waynesville in 2006. His beloved wife of 67 years, Aileen Collier Kuehn, died in 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Gustave and Kate Stanley Kuehn and his two sisters, all of Cleveland, Ohio. He worked as office manager for Skyland Motors and later as comptroller of Parkland Chevrolet. He retired as vice president of Apple Tree Chevrolet at the age of 72 years. Stan proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II in the European Theater and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Stan enjoyed gardening, planning and building houses, working with his model railroad and spending time with his family, children, and friends. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his son, Curtis Kuehn and his wife, Clarissa, of Waynesville; his grandson David Kuehn and his wife, Janna; and two great-grandchildren Taiylor and Christian, all of Clyde; and several nieces and nephews. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Stan's memory to Haywood Animal Welfare Association (HAWA), P.O.
