Shirley Stamey

Shirley Rector Stamey, age 73, died on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Ollie Teaster Rector and the late Willis Rector. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marsene Rector and two brothers, Cecil and Carroll Rector. She was a strong believer in Christ. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Neal Stamey; a son, Gary and his wife, Joy Shuler Stamey of Arden; and a sister, Bonnie Green of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Doug Henson and Reverend Gerald Denham officiating. Burial will follow at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
