Shirley Jean Norris

Shirley Jean Williams Norris, 85, resident of Haywood County, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A native of Yancy County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Dovie Edwards Williams and had lived in Spring Creek prior to putting down roots in Waynesville.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab for their loving care of Shirley this last year.

She loved caring for children and babysat for many throughout her lifetime. Shirley took great pride of keeping a pristine home and a bountiful garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Jerry Dean “Tuck” Norris; son, Michael Wayne Norris and grandsons, Jeremy Norris and Stacy Storey.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Betty Faye (Stanley) Storey; son, Jerry Dean (Amanda) Norris; grandchildren, Jenifer(Brandon) Rogers, Ryan (Delza) Singleton and Chris Norris; great grandchildren, Brittney (Jacob) Bradley, Taylor (Morgan) Rogers, Chase (Lexi) Cooper, Piper Singleton, Rafael Albuquerque, Hayden (Anna) Norris, Jenna (Fletcher) Hewitt, Madilyn, Tanner, Peyton, Emrylin, and Hannah Norris; great great grandchildren, Gatlyn Bradley, Mayla Rogers, Jayce Bradley, Joseph Rogers, Presley Norris and Baby Boy Bradley due in December.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with grandson, Ryan Singleton officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Haywood County Schools Foundation, 1233 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
