Waynesville, Shelby Jean Wood Hannah, age 84, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Bragg and Lula Kilby Wood. She was preceded in death by all her siblings in her big family, three sisters, Peggy Massie, Sis Rider, and Dallas Norman; and five brothers, Jim, Chester, Clyde, Lester, and Dexter Wood.
Shelby proudly worked at Dayco for 28 years in the curved hose division. She loved reading, Facebook and enjoyed the challenge of word search puzzles. Many special moments were made going on picnics. But above everything, Shelby loved spending time with her family.
Shelby is survived by her dear children, two daughters, Debbie Wyatt and Belinda Marr (Steve) and son, Daryl Hannah (Dedi); five grandchildren, Matthew, Alston, Denver, Mekayla, and Tracy; four great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Matthew Pressley and Reverend Brandon Mendez officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St, Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The care of Ms. Hannah has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
