Shawn Medford Surrett

Waynesville, Shawn Medford Surrett, 57, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at her home. 

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Carol Liner Medford.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Benjamin and James Tyler Surrett; paternal grandparents, Ben and Thelma Medford; and maternal grandmother, Jane Liner.  Shawn enjoyed flowers, spending time on her porch while listening to rock and roll music, going to the movies and the rod runs with Justin, and attending concerts with her sister, Pam.  She loved spending time with her son, Justin and granddaughter Carmella, looking for new places and adventures.  Her grandchildren, nieces and nephews were her greatest joy.

Shawn is survived by her father, J. R. Medford; two sons, Justin and Colton Surrett; sister, Pam Medford Schilling (Rick Oswald); four grandchildren, Carmella, Abel, Jasper, and Charley Surrett and several nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Chaplin Patrick Davis officiating.  Burial will follow at Center Pigeon Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until service time at the funeral home.
